January 2nd - First day of week 29!

I'm just trying to get a feel for this blog business...please be patient...
So today is the first day of week 29, and since 34-35 weeks is the goal for triplets, that theoretically means that we have 6 weeks AT MOST until the girls arrive - Yikes - I mean it when I say that there is just no way to really be prepared...

For those of you with baby stats on your mind, here is the scoop:
The girls as of the last ultrasound (mid-December) were 1lb 14oz, 1lb 14oz, and 1lb 15oz. It is very encouraging that the girls are so close in size. Apparently with identicals, the sharing of the placenta can often result in extreme differences in size due to TTT (twin-twin transfusion) - basically, the babies don't share nicely and with triplets the results can be three babies that are two pounds or more different at birth.

So far, a really rough average suggests that at this point the triplings are gaining about 3 ounces a week each, so hopefully they are all closer to 2.5 pounds each. Our next ultrasound is January 13, and they'll do a size estimate then...
