Fall is in the air

Hello everyone (if anyone is still bothering to check in - I know we have been absentee bloggers...)
Jason said he updated the blog, but I can't find his entry, so I thought I would make one whether his was there or not.
Things are just great! Wonderful! Fantastic! Outstanding! There are not words, really.
The girls are such little marvels and every day they do something that astounds me: today it was sitting on the floor in a circle (with pillows for stability) and handing rattles back and forth and cooing at each other. This bought me almost 20 minutes that I could have used to fold laundry, but instead found myself transfixed, watching them from the other room in disbelief at their ability to entertain each other. I resisted the urge not accost them and rattle things at them to remind them I was there, but it was no small task.

Some other new things for the girls are that they are almost sitting without aid of hand or pillow, they are eating rice cereal and have tasted bananas (Ruthie loved them, Lucy did NOT, and Ida could take them or leave them). We are just about to break out the high chairs (thanks again) so that the girls can be included when we sit down to dinner. The are squawking a lot (especially Ida) in almost all vowels, consonants are few and far between and mostly flukes. They can roll from front to back and back to side, but not back to front. If you hand them something they'll take it and put in in their mouths. Ida and Ruthie are both pretty effective scoochers (Ida in a head-down bulldozer sort of way and Ruthie in a side-winder sort of way) and Lucy mostly scoots backward - except today she was sitting on my tummy and she schooched all the way up to my chest while I held her hands.

Okay, if anyone is still reading - thank you - it has been so long since I put any words out there where to start and end is a big mystery to me.

I do want to say that the girls are so much fun these days that if anyone is inclined to come for a visit, come on up. We are looking for volunteers to come hold and play with babies, so drop me a line via email (not the blog) if interested.

Also, no pressure, but the girls are running low on clothes, so if anyone is inspired to pick up 3-6 month sized clothes (we're not picky as long as they're cotton) it's always appreciated. Of course, they look pretty darn cute naked so it's no skin off my nose if none materialize.

As August peters out I daydream about a very cozy winter spent snuggled up with the girls reading books over and over and whipping up new baby food concoctions while the girls roll around and then crawl and then babble and eat and ooze everything from everywhere and pull my hair and cry and laugh and amaze. It is a very pretty picture and it includes all of you that have sent your love and encouragement in one way or another. Thank you. Lots of love, Sarah.
