Why Ruthie's nickname is "Doodlebug"

This photo is from the same day as "milk face Lu" and "rockabilly Ida" (below). This is why Ruthie's nickname is "Doodlebug:" she is more round and compact than her sisters, her eyes are slightly less-squinty than her sisters' (and therefore more "beady" - in a good way - but doodlebug-like, she is silly, but also understated. She does not demand attention very often, but she is always up to something. Take my word for it.
