Everything is Blooming!
The plum tree in our front yard is blooming and we have bulbs popping up and opening in the back yard. This means the season is changing and it is high time I posted some new pictures and info for you folks.
First of all, I have to say that my cousin Ziggy is responsible for the adorable valentine hats the girls are modeling in the new photos. She is a whiz with the knitting needles and the girls definitely serve as suitable models.
Things are wild from sunrise to sunset around here- and if I have ever used the word "wild" so far in reference to these girls, it was premature...but now, things are wild - there is no other word that comes to mind.
All three girls are crawling now - and every so often when they all descend on me I feel like I am in a zombie movie and the babies are inching closer, closer, closer to eat my brains, or soul or whatever zombies eat. Other times, when they are crawing away as I try to catch them I am amazed at how fast they can move. Ida and Lucy crawl in the more common way, on two hands and two knees. Ruthie, however, crawls by swinging both hands forward and then pushes with her back knee while simultaneously keeping one leg sort of folded in front of her. It's very cute, and I'll be honest and say it's a bit disturbing too, and I sort of just want her to crawl like the other girls; but she is so happy to be able to cover some ground, that it's hard to mind too much.
Ruthie and Lucy both seem to have a surprising aptitude for throwing and rolling a ball. The first time Jason rolled a ball at Lucy she just batted it back to him before it stopped rolling. Lucy will even play catch now - her accuracy is not perfect, but she gets the mechanics of taking turns and throwing. Lucy has also mastered stacking blocks, and she also will help me put blocks away sometimes (sometimes she takes more out than she puts away, but she really gets it.
Some of the babes' favorite past-times include pulling books off the bookshelf, eating dust bunnies, banging blocks against anything that doesn't run away, pointing, drooling, hiding their socks, ripping paper into a million-billion pieces and patting things.
All of the girls also have two bottom teeth and are really working on cutting top ones too. With these lovely pearly whites the gals are eating just about anything we eat that's not too spicy or too chokey (I have three babies, I get to use words like "chokey). They have really taken a shine to meat - especially beef...it's pretty uncanny...they all devour it. Chicken is a close second. I think the item they have eaten with the most enthusiasm was a beef braise with beef, peas, carrots, potatoes and butternut squash - they ate it up!
As for their vitals, the gals are almost 27 inches long and almost 17 pounds of pure baby grit.
We are very much looking forward to taking a trip down to Eugene in late March and hopefully enjoying a summer of visitors and some modest travel.
Hope all of you out there are well and good. Lots and lots of love from the Prices.
